Back in the day we'd rent The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from the local rental place and the cartridge would always have a clear save file and that's what we'd usually play on. But sometimes we'd delete the completed save and start from the beginning where Link has no sword or shield or anything and it's raining and the music is different. Because it's the beginning of the game. But we were a little too young to fully understand this and thought we'd broken the game and Link was now stuck in this broken state.

So Felix thinks his recorder is broken but it's actually just in two pieces like it's designed to be. Like the Zelda game. But a musical instrument.
