I really wish I'd made Felix's hand pop out of the border in the third panel. That's something I still need to do more.

I haven't really written about changing inking styles again; I was reading about pros using brushes for inking and wanted to give it a try. It wound up being faster and easier than using a dip pen and then going back over the lines I wanted to make thicker. I also fell deeply in love with drybrushing and you're going to see that through the entire rest of the comic because it's an extremely good technique when you're working in black and white. I also stopped using printer paper and started using bristol board, which took ink so much better and was a lot more forgiving. It was only available in 9x12" sheets and I worked in 8.5x11" so I put notches in a ruler where my margins went and drew them out every time.
