Melissa always spends what little money she has on food and books, she sleeps wherever is most convenient/possible and doesn't take handouts from anyone because she doesn't really trust anyone. Traveling around with Felix has been a fun way to reintegrate into society but she's not especially attached to him so parting ways was something she figured would happen eventually.
