Martin Fairchild was designed to unambiguously be Melissa's father so the whole question of parentage would be a nonissue to everyone but the people who really really want to push the matter. I didn't decide to do it for political reasons, but because there's always going to that faint question mark over their relationship and Martin absolutely does not care.
